Just in case you missed this from an email late September
Re: A Friendly Hello from EMGC
Together, we are facing a truly unprecedented situation. The global coronavirus pandemic is
affecting all of our families, our businesses, our communities, and our way of life. During this
time, I wanted to reach out to you on behalf of the committee to say that we’re all connected
like never before.
We have an amazing club membership, with friendly rivalry and a strong competitive spirit.
Right now, we are being called upon to be our best selves, with patience, understanding and
compassion.
I am hopeful that sometime during the coming weeks, we will look at this difficult lockdown in
the “rear-view mirror”, as we come together to play the game that we love and sometimes
deplore. A suggestion: why not, if possible, take your pitching wedge into a park or the back
yard and get in some practice and save the enclosed mask for that ‘first game back’.
It is unclear right now as to when we will be back. However, as we go forward, we will be
sure to keep you updated. The Executive have been ensuring that the day-to-day issues of
the club are being taken care of via emails or mobiles. As many of you will be aware we
normally hold the Annual General Meeting in early September. The current lockdown has
resulted in an indefinite postponement of the AGM. You will be informed in due course of the date when we will hold the AGM. In the interim, please continue to stay-at-home and
observe physical distancing.
Thank you to all those members who have paid annual subscriptions, or utilized the
instalment plan, for this broken year. The club as a ‘not for profit’ organisation relies on its
members to exist. To those members who are uncertain of their future membership could
you please let Russell know of your plans so he can let the Treasurer know for budgeting
purposes. Also to the members who have stumped up to sponsor Game Day trophies, the
club thanks you.
Yours out of the Bunkers
Harry Naidu
